Question: What is the Biblical view on artificial intelligence, robots, or anything related to them?:
I have never seen a direct comment on such from Bible Scripture. However, IMO the subject would for myself be in the same category as “necromancy”; which as many people know is in Satan’s domain!
I hold this opinion as a Christian, and an Engineer, where engineering training at College always emphasised the necessity of “control”!
What this means in the engineering world can be summarised as “information in = information or action out”, whether in design or Systems!
Superficially that means “control” by the human, at all times, for safety and purpose!
From the international debate at present, the emphasis has moved into “autonomous robotics”, with “self-determinant powers” IE, they can control themselves, and do not need the controller, IE a human!!
Whilst this stage (as I understand it) has not yet been reached, but is possible (and is certainly under development), the growing “microchip” technology looks very much like it will soon be feasible!
This is where IMO the whole subject enters the domain of our great enemy Satan; who, knowing his time is short, will use ANY area of human activity to bring his war with Almighty God into action to enable the downfall of God’s Plans for human kind, and their ultimate Salvation!
The Great Sacrifice in Christ Jesus our Lord, has put Satan into a frenzy of activity to enable as many people as possible to be “lost” to Almighty God (1 Peter 5:8); and as he has/is using drugs for many years; he will use such technology as “automatic programming” in this Age for the same purpose, as the potential for destruction is enormous!
